The theme of the group is to try to define want the computer user  thinks his environment will look like and cost approximately four to  six years from now. This is studied in light of the user's and the  producer's knowledge and experience. At this meeting, we tried to  approach the problem from the application point of view.  Within the  experience represented, we studied the problem from three points of  view : Commercial-Educational, Engineering-Scientific, and Industrial.  The initial goals and division of the participants was made by the  entire group. Then we broke into three individual groups to attack  the problem. After an agreed period of time, the entire group remet  and presented their results to the rest. The presentation was made  with comments, qualifications, and criticism from the rest of the  membMeeting report fotr the Small Systems Customer Steering Committee.   Meeting held at Colorado Springs, Colo. on Aug 19-21,197ers. This process resulted in the redefinition of the goals and  the structure of the report. Then the original groups reconv9.  #The second meting of the SSCSC was held at the Antlers Hotel in  Colorado Springs during Aug. 19 to 21, 1979. There weened  to refine and expand their original work. Finally, the entire group  remet to again critique the results. They are concerned  with remote diagnostics of customer equipment the prepare Field Service  for the type of problem and type of replacement parts before departure  to the customer's site.  #An additional discussion of more immediate plans for åbulk starage  was held after dinner on Monday evenng. This was held with several  people from the Colorado Springs Engineerinåg and Design Staff present  to enable direct interaction between the design people and the users.  #The meeting appeared to åmake considerable progress and a formal  report is in progress. In addition, plans have been started to define  some sort of åuser panel and discussion for future DECUS meetings.
