FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CITRIX ENHANCES WINVIEW APPLICATION SERVER SOFTWARE
WinView Now Offers Transparent Access to LAN-Based Workstation Drives, Windows
Enhanced Mode Support, Automated Client Scripting, Simplified Installation,
and More.

CORAL SPRINGS, FL -- NOVEMBER 1, 1993 -- Citrix Systems, Inc. today announced
an upgrade to their application server, WinView for Networks version 2.2.
This version offers many enhanced features while further simplifying product
installation and configu ration. WinView for Networks allows multiple users
to simultaneously access Windows, DOS and OS/2 applications, regardless of the
type of PC workstation used or whether it is local or remote from the network.

"This release demonstrates Citrix Systems' continued customer commitment to
providing the highest-performance application server software to solve
everyday corporate computing problems," said Edward Iacobucci, founder and
chairman of Citrix Systems, Inc. "The enhancements we have made in WinView
2.2 are in direct response to customer feedback received since WinView's
introduction. This version adds considerable product strength and
versatility, giving our users greater ease of use, performance improveme nts
and broader compatibility."

New features of WinView for Networks version 2.2 include: {SYMBOL 183 \f
"Symbol" \s 10 \h} Client drive support -- gives users transparent access
to LAN-based workstation drives. Version 2.2 allows the drives of a LAN-based
or remote node workstation to be visible and accessible by applications
running on the WinView application server. With this support now available,
end users and their applications can refer to workstation disk drives with the
usual A:, B:, C: nomenclature, even when the applications are running on a
separate application server. This enhan cement eliminates file uploads and
downloads by replacing them with simple drive references or drive-to-drive
copy commands.

{SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h} Support for applications running in
Windows Enhanced Mode -- allows most Windows Enhanced Mode applications, such
as Lotus Notes and Microsoft FoxPro, to operate on a WinView application
server. The WinView Windows kerne l has been upgraded in this release to
include 32-bit memory operations, supporting Windows Enhanced Mode
applications.

{SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h} Simplified Windows Set-up -- eases the
administrative overhead involved in configuring WinView. Now network users
can share a common Windows 3.1 desktop setup, whether they are running Windows
3.1 locally on their workst ation or remotely by connecting to a WinView
application server.

{SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h} Automated Client Scripting --
automates the connection process to an application server through the creation
of batch files. Script files are ASCII text files. Each line in the script
begins with a SCRIPT command followed by any arguments.

{SYMBOL 183 \f "Symbol" \s 10 \h} Expanded Remote Node Client Support --
provides extended compatibility with remote node and communication servers
such as Novell NetWare Connect, DCA RLN, and CentrumRemote. WinView for
Networks complements remote node a nd communication products by providing
high-speed Windows remote access for data intensive applications and by
separating application services from communication services.

"WinView 2.0 provides us with a solution to remote access that was not
previously available," commented Daron Dixon, lab director for The Computer
Group/US Connect, an end user and reseller of WinView for Networks, located in
Columbia, South Carolina. "W e have eight remote offices whose primary
connection into the corporate network is through WinView. WinView makes us
highly productive. Version 2.2 promises to be an even better solution with
its many new features that offer greater simplification for en d users."

Citrix Systems' WinView for Networks application server software is the first
remote computing solution to provide remote and mobile users with performance
comparable to what they would experience if they were running Windows, DOS and
OS/2 applications lo

ICA's client/server architecture minimizes data traffic by sending only
Windows graphics commands, mouse and screen updates between the remote client
and server. Because of WinView's distributed client/server architecture, a
486 application server can su pport up to ten concurrent Windows users,
providing a cost-effective solution for users requiring remote access to the
corporate network.

The product will begin shipping October 30, 1993 through Citrix Authorized
Resellers. The suggested retail price for WinView is $2,645 for a ten-user
system. Additional users can be added to a WinView application server with
Citrix's Server Five Pack, wh ich increases the user count in increments of
five. The Server Five Pack has a suggested retail price of $695. Current
registered WinView users may upgrade to version 2.2 for $695 through January
31, 1994. Customers should contact their local reseller fo r more upgrade
information.
