Overview:
---------

This application note facilitates the configuration of Argosy's RunPC
software and Citrix WinView for Networks. RunPC takes the place of the Citrix
Remote Link client software and allows Macintosh clients to remotely dial into
a WinView server via the ICA protocol. Once connected to the WinView server,
the Macintosh client can run text-based DOS and OS/2 applications.

Disclaimer:
-----------

The scenarios described in this document have been tested by Citrix.
Other variations to the scenarios described in this document may work, however
they have not specifically been tested by Citrix. In order to recreate the
configurations, you should use the specified revision levels of all software
products described in this document and stay within the bounds of the features
and functions described in this document.

Please note that this application note is a living document and will be
modified as new information and versions of the software described herein
become available. Make sure you have the latest version of this document
before you begin. The latest version is always available in the Citrix Forum
on Compuserve.

Requirements:
-------------

        Argosy software that is required:

                Run PC 4.05 (1 disks)

        Client hardware that is required:

A MAC+ to High Speed Modem Cable is required if using
                        a 9600bps or greater modem.

Setup:
------

        1) Insert the RunPC disk in the Macintosh's disk drive. Copy the RunPC
file to a folder on your Macintosh.

        2) Start RunPC by double clicking the icon.

        3) Choose 'Preferences' under the File menu. Configure your modem
for the correct port and baud rate. Enter in the proper
           initialization string for your modem.

*If using a modem on WinView's compatibility list you may be able
to use the initialization string supplied in WinView's Remote Link
client. A list of the currently supported modems and their
initialization strings are provided at the end of this application
           note.

        4) Choose 'Dial' from the File menu. Add an entry with a name and
           a phone number.

        5) If desired, a login ID and password may be specified for automatic
logins. Under 'Preferences' in the File menu, choose to configure
the 'User Login' option. Enter a user ID and password valid on the
WinView Server and click OK. A first user program and working
           directory may also be specified.

Operation:
----------

        1) Choose 'Dial' from the File menu. Select entry to dial and click
the dial button. A login prompt should appear after connecting to
a WinView server. (Check with your System Administrator to obtain
a valid user ID and password.

Notes:
------

RunPC 4.05 will allow a Macintosh client to connect to a WinView server
via the ICA protocol. Once connected, users can run DOS and OS/2 text
based applications. Workstation printing is also supported in this
        version of RunPC.

Features not currently supported in RunPC are Windows applications and
        file transfers.

Problems:
---------

There are no known problems at this time.
