Overview:
---------

This application note facilitates the configuration of Digi ISDN
Products, the Digi IMAC Bridge, Digi PC-IMAC and the Digi DataFire, with Citrix
"WinView for Networks".

The Digi ISDN products provide remote ethernet network bridging over standard
Basic Rate 2B+D ( 2 x 64Kbps Data Channels) ISDN lines. They are protocol
independent, so they will bridge IPX, SPX, TCP/IP, NetBIOS, and NetBEUI. They
transparently pass ethernet frames between their LAN port, and the LAN connected
to the remote unit over the ISDN line. The Digi ISDN Products allow a remote
PC or LAN access to a WinView server on the host LAN, or vice-versa. The two
LAN's, or PC and LAN, will appear as one contiguous network. This allows the
transparent use of the LanLink remote access product to attach to a WinView
server, as if it were on the local LAN.

the following configuration will be discussed in this document:

	A. External Digi IMAC to IMAC ethernet bridge for remote WinView access.

The scenarios described in this document have been tested by Citrix.
Other variations to the scenarios described in this document may work, however
they have not specifically been tested by Citrix. In order to recreate the
configurations, you should use the specified revision levels of all software
products described in this document and stay within the bounds of the features
and functions described in this document.

Please note that this application note is a living document and will be

A. External Digi IMAC-to-IMAC ethernet bridge for remote WinView access.

Requirements:
-------------

Digi IMAC ISDN/MAC Layer Bridge on the remote and local side.

ISDN lines installed at both the local and remote site

Citrix "WinView for Networks" Application Server Software

Installation:
-------------

	1) Install the Digi IMAC bridge as per manual's installation section.

	2) Proceed to follow the 'Sample Installation' section in the
	   Digi IMAC manual

	3) Install the WinView Application Server software as per the
	   Citrix Installation Guide.

	4) Configure a Citrix LanLink client as per the Citrix Lanlink
	    User's Manual

Configuration:
--------------

The tested configuration used a copy of the Listen2 profile, which
controls incoming ethernet traffic by using two B channels.

When configuring a profile on the IMAC, the following settings gave the
best performance (options are set via the IMAC's 'set profile' command):

/FILTER_LOGIC=SOFT - maintains up to 2047 MAC address filter table
/NUMBER_OF_CHANNELS=2 - use both channels for the bridging
	/CHANNEL=b1:b2 - use both B1 and B2 channels.

Usage:
----------

	1) If the Digi IMAC Bridges are operating and the ISDN lines are active,
the "remote" network should appear as if it is local. Depending on the
Digi IMAC bridge equipment purchased, your bandwidth will be either
64kbps or 128kbps. Citrix Lanlink compression provides excellent
	performance connection over the bridge.

	 2) The IMAC bridges can be configured and managed remotely by
any SNMP management system, or via TCP/IP rsh commands.

	3) From a PC Client run the Lanlink program. From the LanLink main
menu, Choose "Connect to AppServer", highlight the desired Appserver
and press enter. Save the configuration,F4, From the Lanlink Main Menu
select "Connect to and Appser", highlight the desired selection and press
enter. A WinView Login prompt should appear momentarily.

Notes:
------

The Digi IMAC Bridge products are an excellent way to access remote
LAN's. Special features on the IMAC series Bridges allow connections
to be initiated or dropped, transparently to users, giving the remote
office a virtual presence on the central site LAN, while keeping "line
	charges at a minimum".

In addition, LanLink greatly improves the performance of the ISDN Bridge
because the execution of the applications is performed on the WinView
server, only requiring screen updates, keystrokes, and mouse activity
to be sent across the bridge. The majority of the network traffic will
be between the WinView server and the Netware server which should be on
	the same local network.

Problems:
---------

There are no known problems when using Digi IMAC Series Bridge Products
in conjunction with WinView for Networks Application Server software.
